Cinematographer Joseph Yacoe began his career shooting music videos in the mid-1980s after graduating with a Masters Degree from California Institute of the Arts where he studied under Polish cinematography teacher Kris Malkiewicz. He shot many hundreds of music videos with artists like Michael Jackson, Guns and Roses, George Michael, Lauren Hill and Jennifer Lopez to name a few.
During that time he transitioned into shooting commercials and has worked with award winning directors such as Joel Schumacher, David Fincher, Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Kuntz, Roman Coppola and Herb Ritz for products like Nike, L'Oreal, BMW, Levi's, Coca-Cola, Revlon and Cover Girl.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in a small town on the North Shore of Long Island NY, Yacoe began studying photography before going into cinematography. He began his professional career as a camera assistant for award-winning documentary cinematographer and filmmaker Don Lenzer.
